Is There a Minimum Number of Care Hours?
It depends on your care needs. MyCG Home Care does not believe in creating unnecessary barriers to receiving care. While there may be practical minimum visit lengths to ensure safe, effective, and meaningful care, every situation is assessed individually.
Our goal is to design a care schedule that is practical, beneficial for your loved one, and sustainable for both your family and our caregivers.

1. Many Families Need Only a Small Amount of Help
Many families ask this question because they only need a small amount of help. For example:
A parent who needs assistance getting ready in the morning.
Someone who needs transportation to a medical appointment.
A client recovering from surgery who requires short-term support.
An older adult who simply wants companionship a few times each week.
Naturally, families wonder whether they must purchase more care than they actually need. At MyCG Home Care, our answer is simple: We build care plans around people—not around arbitrary rules.
2. Visits Also Need to Be Practical
Every visit involves:
Scheduling a caregiver.
Travel time.
Care planning.
Documentation.
Communication.
Quality oversight.
Very short visits may not allow enough time to provide meaningful care while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. For this reason, MyCG may establish practical minimum visit durations depending on the type of service requested and operational considerations. Whenever possible, we work with families to create a schedule that balances flexibility with effective care.
3. Why Minimum Visit Lengths Sometimes Exist
Minimum visit lengths are not intended to increase costs. They exist because quality home care requires enough time to:
Build rapport.
Complete care tasks safely.
Observe changes in the client's condition.
Communicate important updates.
Document the visit accurately.
Ensure the caregiver is not rushed.
These elements are essential to delivering excellent care.
4. Every Situation Is Different
There is no single answer that applies to every family. For example:
Scenario 1: A client requires assistance with morning routines, dressing, and breakfast preparation. A slightly longer visit may provide the caregiver enough time to complete these tasks comfortably while also checking on the client's wellbeing.
Scenario 2: A family requests transportation to a doctor's appointment. The visit naturally includes preparation, travel, waiting time, and safe return home. The duration depends on the appointment rather than a standard minimum.
Scenario 3: A client requires companionship while family members attend an important event. The visit is designed around the family's schedule and the client's needs.
5. Our Goal Is Appropriate Care—Not More Care
One concern families sometimes have is: "Will we be required to purchase more hours than we actually need?" Our philosophy is exactly the opposite. We recommend only the level of care that we believe will genuinely benefit your loved one. Sometimes that means only a few visits each week. Sometimes it means daily support. Sometimes care increases temporarily during recovery and is later reduced. Every care plan remains flexible.
6. Can Care Hours Change Over Time?
Yes. One of the advantages of personalized care planning is that your schedule can evolve. For example:
Recovery progresses.
Independence improves.
Health conditions change.
Family members become more available.
Additional support becomes necessary.
When care needs change, we review the care plan together and discuss any adjustments before they are implemented.
7. Our Approach to Flexible Scheduling
Whenever possible, MyCG works with families to create schedules that are:
Practical.
Personalized.
Cost-effective.
Comfortable for the client.
Sustainable for caregivers.
Easy to adjust when circumstances change.
We believe flexibility is one of the hallmarks of excellent home care.

9. Common Misunderstandings
"Home care providers force families into large care packages." At MyCG, we begin with your needs—not a predetermined package.
"Very short visits always provide the best value." Not necessarily. A visit should allow enough time to provide meaningful, safe, and unhurried care.
"Once a schedule is agreed, it can never change." Care plans are designed to evolve as circumstances change.
"Asking for only a few hours means we're not an important client." Every client matters to us, regardless of the number of hours they require. Our goal is to deliver the right care—not simply more care.
10. When Should You Contact MyCG?
If you're unsure how many hours of support your loved one needs, we encourage you to contact us. We'll help you understand:
Which services are appropriate.
How much time those services typically require.
Whether short-term or ongoing care makes more sense.
How to design a schedule that fits your family's routine and budget.
There is no obligation, and we're always happy to answer your questions.
11. Why Families Appreciate Our Approach
Families often tell us they value the flexibility MyCG offers. Rather than insisting on rigid schedules, we work collaboratively to build care plans that reflect real life. That flexibility allows families to begin with the support they need today while knowing adjustments can be made tomorrow if circumstances change.
