How Does MyCG Select Its Caregivers?

When families invite someone into their home, they are placing extraordinary trust in that individual. We understand that trust must be earned.

That is why MyCG has developed a thoughtful caregiver selection process designed to identify people who possess not only the necessary skills but also the personal qualities required to deliver compassionate, respectful, and dependable care.

Technical ability matters. But kindness, integrity, patience, and professionalism matter just as much. Our goal is to build a team of caregivers whom we would confidently trust with our own families.

1. What We Look For

Every caregiver is evaluated as a whole person. We look for individuals who demonstrate:

Compassion.

Honesty.

Professionalism.

Reliability.

Patience.

Respect.

Good communication.

Emotional maturity.

A genuine desire to help others.

Technical skills can be developed through training. Character is much harder to teach. For that reason, personal values play a central role in our recruitment process.

2. Step 1 — Application Review

Every applicant begins by submitting an application. We review employment history, relevant experience, certifications (where applicable), availability, professional qualifications, and communication skills.

Applicants who appear to align with MyCG's values move forward.

3. Step 2 — Interviews

Interviews allow us to learn more about the individual. We look beyond resumes by exploring motivation, professional attitude, compassion, problem-solving ability, communication style, and commitment to client-centered care.

We believe conversations often reveal qualities that paperwork cannot.

4. Step 3 — Background Screening

Appropriate background screening forms an important part of our hiring process. Depending on legal requirements and organizational policies, this may include criminal background checks, identity verification, employment verification, professional reference checks, and other legally permitted screening processes.

Our goal is to protect clients while treating applicants fairly and respectfully.

5. Step 4 — Skills and Competency Review

We evaluate whether applicants possess the knowledge and practical abilities needed for the services they will provide. Areas may include personal care, safe mobility assistance, infection prevention, communication, professional conduct, documentation, and client safety.

6. Step 5 — Orientation and Training

Successful applicants participate in orientation before working independently. This introduces them to MyCG values, client-centered care, privacy and confidentiality, safety expectations, professional standards, care documentation, communication procedures, and CareOS workflows.

Training is an ongoing process—not a one-time event.

7. Step 6 — Ongoing Evaluation

Hiring is only the beginning. Every caregiver continues to receive supervision, performance reviews, continuing education, quality monitoring, family feedback, and coaching when appropriate.

Our standards continue throughout the caregiver's employment—not just during recruitment.

8. More Than Qualifications

Families often ask whether certifications are important. The answer is yes. But qualifications alone do not guarantee exceptional care. We also value qualities such as listening carefully, treating clients respectfully, remaining calm under pressure, building trust, respecting family preferences, and communicating professionally.

These qualities often have the greatest impact on the care experience.

9. A Team Approach

Caregivers are never expected to work alone without support. Behind every caregiver is a team that includes Care Coordinators, Supervisors, Quality Assurance staff, Administrative support, and Executive oversight.

This collaborative approach helps ensure caregivers have the resources they need to provide consistent, high-quality care.

10. Continuous Improvement

Healthcare continues to evolve. So do we. MyCG encourages caregivers to continue learning through additional training, skills development, continuing education, policy updates, CareOS learning resources, and quality improvement initiatives.

Our goal is to help every caregiver grow professionally throughout their career.

12. Common Misunderstandings

"Anyone can become a MyCG caregiver." No. Applicants must successfully complete our recruitment and selection process before joining the team.

"Technical skills are all that matter." Professional knowledge is important, but compassion, integrity, communication, and professionalism are equally essential.

"Once someone is hired, the evaluation process ends." Hiring is only the beginning. Caregivers continue receiving supervision, feedback, and professional development throughout their employment.

"Every caregiver is exactly the same." Every caregiver brings unique strengths and experiences. Our caregiver matching process helps pair clients with caregivers whose skills and personalities are most appropriate for their individual needs.

13. When Should You Contact MyCG?

We believe families should feel confident not only in the services we provide, but also in the people providing them.

14. Why Families Appreciate Our Caregiver Selection Process

Families often tell us that one of the reasons they choose MyCG is because they feel confident in the people who represent our organization. They appreciate knowing that caregivers have been selected not simply because they were available, but because they demonstrated the compassion, professionalism, and integrity required to care for someone else's loved one. That confidence allows families to welcome caregivers into their homes with greater peace of mind.
