What Happens If We Need to Cancel or Reschedule a Visit?
Life is unpredictable, and sometimes plans change. A loved one may have a doctor's appointment. Family members may decide to provide care that day. Someone may be admitted to the hospital. Travel plans may change. Weather may interfere. These situations are a normal part of life.
At MyCG Home Care, we understand that flexibility is essential. Whenever possible, we will work with families to accommodate schedule changes while maintaining reliable care for everyone we serve. The earlier we receive notice, the more options we usually have.

1. Why Advance Notice Matters
Every scheduled visit involves careful planning. Before a caregiver arrives, MyCG coordinates:
Caregiver schedules.
Travel routes.
Care plans.
Family communication.
Backup coverage.
Operational support.
When a visit is cancelled without sufficient notice, it may be difficult to reassign caregivers or offer that time to another family in need. Providing advance notice helps us continue serving all families fairly and efficiently.
2. How to Request a Schedule Change
If you need to cancel or reschedule a visit, simply contact MyCG as soon as possible. Depending on the situation, you may be able to notify us through:
Your Care Coordinator.
The MyCG office.
The Family Portal.
The MyCG Family App.
Other approved communication channels.
Our team will confirm the requested change and discuss the next available options with you.
3. What Happens After You Notify Us?
Once we receive your request, we will: Step 1 — Review the Request: we confirm the scheduled visit and understand the reason for the requested change. Step 2 — Coordinate With the Caregiver: if appropriate, we notify the assigned caregiver and adjust their schedule. Step 3 — Explore Alternative Times: whenever possible, we will work with you to reschedule the visit at a convenient time. Step 4 — Update the Care Plan: if the change affects the ongoing care schedule, we update your care plan accordingly. Step 5 — Confirm the New Schedule: once arrangements have been finalized, we confirm the updated schedule with your family.
4. Are There Cancellation Policies?
Yes. To ensure fairness for both families and caregivers, MyCG maintains cancellation and scheduling policies. These policies help us:
Respect caregiver time.
Maintain reliable schedules.
Coordinate replacement visits.
Continue serving all families effectively.
Any applicable notice periods or fees will always be clearly explained in your Service Agreement before services begin. We believe policies should never come as a surprise.
5. Emergency Situations
We understand that emergencies cannot always be predicted. Examples include:
Hospital admissions.
Medical emergencies.
Severe weather.
Family emergencies.
Unexpected travel.
If an emergency occurs, please contact us as soon as you safely can. Our team will work with you to determine the most appropriate next steps.
6. Can Visits Be Rescheduled Instead of Cancelled?
Often, yes. Whenever caregiver availability permits, we will make every reasonable effort to find another suitable appointment time. Although we cannot guarantee every requested time will be available, we always try to provide practical alternatives.

8. Common Misunderstandings
"Once a visit is scheduled, it cannot be changed." Schedules can often be adjusted with appropriate notice.
"Cancelling one visit means ending services." Not at all. Individual visits can usually be cancelled or rescheduled without affecting your overall care plan.
"Emergencies will result in penalties regardless of circumstances." Every situation is reviewed individually, and emergencies are handled with understanding and compassion.
"The caregiver will automatically know about schedule changes." Please notify MyCG directly through approved communication channels so we can coordinate changes properly and keep everyone informed.
9. When Should You Contact MyCG?
Please contact us as soon as you know a visit may need to change. Early communication allows us to:
Support your family.
Inform your caregiver.
Explore alternative visit times.
Minimize disruption.
Continue providing dependable service.
10. Why Families Appreciate Our Approach
Families often tell us they appreciate that MyCG treats scheduling changes as conversations rather than inconveniences. Our goal is not simply to manage calendars. Our goal is to help families navigate life's unexpected changes while maintaining continuity of care whenever possible. That flexibility, combined with clear communication, helps reduce stress for everyone involved.
