How Will My Family Know What Happened During Each Visit?

One of the most difficult parts of caring for an aging parent or loved one is not always being there. Many family members live in another city, another state, or another country. Others are balancing work, children, and other responsibilities.

Naturally, families wonder: "How will I know everything is okay?" At MyCG, we believe that peace of mind comes from communication. That's why we don't simply provide care—we help families stay connected to the care being provided.

Keeping families informed is one of the defining principles of the MyCG care experience.

1. What Information Is Documented?

After each visit, caregivers complete secure documentation describing the care that was provided. Depending on the care plan, this may include:

Arrival and departure times.

Services completed.

Personal care provided.

Meals prepared.

Medication reminders given.

Activities completed.

Mobility assistance.

Mood and emotional wellbeing.

Changes observed.

Safety concerns.

Recommendations for follow-up.

Documentation focuses on objective observations and care delivered according to the care plan.

2. What Families Can Expect

Authorized family members may receive updates about care completed (confirmation that scheduled services were provided), client wellbeing (comfort, mood, appetite, mobility, engagement, and overall wellbeing), changes noticed (documented and shared with the appropriate members of the care team), and care plan progress (how ongoing care goals are being supported over time).

3. How Information Is Shared

MyCG communicates using secure, approved methods. Depending on family preferences and available technology, updates may be available through the MyCG Family Portal, the MyCG Family App, secure email communications, Care Coordinator follow-up, or scheduled family reviews.

Communication methods are determined during care planning and follow applicable privacy requirements.

4. Real-Time Visibility Through CareOS

As CareOS continues to evolve, families will have increasing visibility into their loved one's care. Future Family Portal features may include daily visit summaries, completed care tasks, caregiver notes, visit timelines, mood observations, activity summaries, appointment updates, medication reminder confirmation (where applicable), safety alerts, care plan progress, and family messaging.

Rather than wondering how a visit went, families can remain informed in a secure and convenient way.

5. Protecting Privacy

Communication always respects the client's privacy and applicable laws. Information is shared only with individuals who are authorized by the client, the client's legal representative, applicable privacy regulations, and MyCG policies.

Protecting confidentiality remains one of our highest responsibilities.

6. When Immediate Communication Happens

Some situations require prompt communication rather than waiting for routine visit documentation, such as health changes, falls, safety concerns, hospitalization, significant behavioral changes, or emergencies.

When these situations occur, MyCG follows established communication procedures to ensure appropriate family members are informed as quickly as possible.

7. Why Families Value Visit Updates

Families consistently tell us that regular communication provides enormous peace of mind. Knowing that someone is paying attention, documenting care, noticing changes, and communicating observations helps reduce anxiety and strengthens trust.

For many families living far away, these updates become an important connection to their loved one's daily life.

9. Common Misunderstandings

"Families only hear from us when something goes wrong." Regular communication is an important part of the MyCG experience—not just emergency communication.

"Caregiver notes are simply paperwork." Documentation helps improve continuity, communication, quality assurance, and family confidence.

"Every family receives identical updates." Communication is personalized according to the care plan, client preferences, authorized access, and family needs.

"Sharing information means compromising privacy." No. Information is shared only with appropriately authorized individuals and always in accordance with applicable privacy requirements.

10. When Should You Contact MyCG?

Please contact us if you would like to discuss family communication preferences, visit updates, care documentation, Family Portal access, CareOS features, or questions about your loved one's care.

We're happy to tailor communication to your family's needs whenever possible.

11. Why Families Appreciate Our Communication Philosophy

Families often tell us that what they value most isn't simply knowing that a caregiver visited. They appreciate understanding how their loved one is doing. Small observations—a smile, a favorite meal enjoyed, participation in an activity, improved mobility, or simply knowing that everything went well—often bring tremendous reassurance. At MyCG, communication isn't an afterthought. It is one of the ways we care for the entire family.
